American Association of Women Podiatrists (AAWP)

American Association of Women Podiatrists' purpose is to further the art and science of podiatric medicine; to promote interests common to women podiatrists and the public; to aid and encourage women, pre-podiatry, podiatry, and post-graduate podiatry students in the study, practice, and advancement of the profession through education and research; and to make more visible the talents, training, work, and efforts of women podiatrists.

Since its beginning in 1915, the American Medical Women’s Association has become the largest professional organization for women physicians. As the number of women physicians steadily grows, AMWA strives to increase the opportunities for women in medicine & provide a strong network for women medical students and physicians.
Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association (APAMSA)

The Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association is a national organization established in 1995 to address the unique challenges and needs of Asian Pacific Americans in medicine. The Chicago Medical School chapter was founded in 1996 and has since been actively involved in both national and regional projects to promote the awareness of Asian Pacific American health issues.

International Health Interest Group brings together students interested in:
- Learning about and discussing international health issues
- Learning more about opportunities for clinical experiences in foreign countries, both during and after their studies.
Jewish Student Union

Latino Medical Student Association (LMSA)

The Latino Medical Student Association is a national student organization created to unite and empower Latino medical students via service, mentorship, and education. We also aim to advocate for the health of the Latino community by addressing the health care needs of the Latino community and through policy change. We look forward to sharing our enriching and diverse culture with the RFU community.
Medical Students for Choice (MSFC)

The purpose of this organization is to increase education, awareness, and open discussion regarding issues of reproductive health and to support those within the medical community who are working to ensure the availability of all reproductive health care services.
Military Healthcare Professionals Interest Group (MHPIG)

The Military Healthcare Professionals Interest Group has a threefold mission to promote awareness of the opportunities available in military medicine to health professional students at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, provide Health Professions Scholarship Program students with resources and help with administrative and military-specific issues, and to provide networking opportunities to HPSP students of all the armed forces branches. MHPIG also strives to have students with similar interests interact on a social and professional level.

Outreach for Health (O4H)

Outreach for Health's mission is to channel the resources of RFUMS graduate-level health professional students into Lake County. The students will provide a mobile prevention clinic in which low-income residents of Lake County will be educated and screened for chronic healthcare problems, particularly diabetes and related diseases. The clinic will be held alternately at schools, clinics, and health fairs across Lake County providing greater access for families. Educational materials will be made available for target chronic behavior and lifestyle changes.
Polish American Medical Association (PAMA)

Our mission is to educate the Polish community in the surrounding area about the importance of health management, health promotion, and prevention, as well as the role of different health professionals in the care of patients. We organize events that advocate for health education and screening as well as fundraise for the other Polish organizations. As the number of Polish Americans in the US rises, there is a pressing need for healthcare workers who have experience working and communicating with diverse populations. PAMA’s service projects provide students with opportunities to practice their clinical skills in a multicultural setting, improve their medical Polish, and provide free quality health services to those who are in need. Our group will hold guest lecturers and educational panels as well as volunteer both on and off-campus. A long-term goal will be to inform Polish Americans and other European descent immigrants about the importance of health care and maintenance of chronic diseases
RUAware

RUAware seeks to promote disability / differently-abled awareness on campus. We aim to enrich understanding pertaining to aspects of disability and ability, both within the healthcare professions and of the community. We further aim to serve people with disabilities or different abilities.
Salud Ofrecida A Latinos (SOL)

Salud Ofrecida A Latinos (SOL) is a service-based organization that provides education and free healthcare to the local underserved population. We focus our efforts on the primary healthcare needs of the Latino community. As the number of Hispanics in the US rises, there is a pressing need for healthcare workers who have experience working and communicating with this population. SOL’s service projects provide students with opportunities to practice their clinical skills in a multicultural setting, improve their medical Spanish, and provide free quality health services to those who are in need. We offer diabetes and obesity screening, blood pressure checks, nutritional information, glaucoma screening, eye examinations, and information on affordable health insurance. Our fundraisers help to purchase medical supplies for our free clinic days and help raise awareness about our work in the Latino community. We look forward to a strong year of continuing these projects and developing new ways to reach out to the local communities while learning and having fun.
Sole Fit (SF)

The purpose of Sole Fit is to create an interprofessional team that will work together to provide shoes to local, underprivileged children. Sole Fit has established a partnership with the nationally recognized organization “Shoes That Fit”. Shoes That Fit will partner Sole Fit with a local school where the club will collect funds and shoes to sponsor the children. The mission of Shoes That Fit is “to provide new shoes for the children in need so that they can attend school in comfort and with dignity, better prepared to learn and play”. It is Sole Fit’s goal to follow this same mission.
South Asian Medical Association (SAMA)

The South Asian Medical Association at RFUMS serves to foster a better understanding and appreciation for South Asian culture and increase cultural awareness and understanding. Students will develop and support entertaining and educational activities that allow all students to participate in various aspects of South Asian culture.

Spectrum student organization exists to support the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, plus (LGBTQ+, LGBTQ, LGBT) student population at Rosalind Franklin University, by providing a safe and supportive environment, advocating for their rights against discrimination and providing resources to make their education a positive experience.

The Student National Medical Association is the nation's oldest and largest student organization focused on the needs and concerns of medical students of color. SNMA is dedicated to creating an atmosphere wherein professional excellence and moral principles can find the fullest expression. SNMA promotes the dissemination of information relative to minority issues in the field of medical education while taking the necessary and proper steps to eradicate practices in the field of health profession education that compromises the goal of providing quality education to minorities and women. SNMA strives to promote increases in the levels of minority student recruitment, admissions, and retention in schools training health professionals. Our vision is to bring a sense of diversity with professional excellence and the highest standard of integrity while serving our community, our school, and our fellow peers.

The Student National Podiatric Medical Association is the official national organization representing the minority student bodies of the podiatric medical colleges across the country. SNPMA functions to promote ethnic minority equality in the podiatric colleges and profession. The term “ethnic minority” includes Black (African) American, Hispanic, Asian, American Indian, and Mexican Americans, as defined by HHS Department of Health and Human Services.

Welcome to the Student Veterans Association! As a student-run organization made for veterans and by veterans, SVA takes pride in serving as a liaison for Student Veterans and their families in continuing their academic journey at RFUMS and in establishing and maintaining a prominent presence in the veteran community locally and abroad. We are here to advocate for you and have resources in place to aid with your transition into graduate and professional school. Our organization also provides a space where we can all come together to create an environment filled with camaraderie. On behalf of SVA, welcome home!

Women’s Health Interest Group (WHIG)

The mission of the Women’s Health Interest Group is to provide students with the opportunity to learn about careers and specialties in women’s health and to stimulate involvement in service-learning projects, volunteer work, and awareness events involving women and women’s health in our community. These goals will be accomplished through guest lecturers and discussion panels from interdisciplinary professional working in the field, service events with local women’s organizations, and campus-wide lectures and /or activities aimed at promoting awareness of current events and issues in women’s health.
Women in Scientific Discovery or Medicine (WISDOM)

Women in Scientific Discovery or Medicine (WISDOM) is an organization designed to promote education and retention of women in STEM and healthcare-related fields through mentorship. Created and organized by graduate students at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, WISDOM employs an interprofessional, team-based approach to mentoring women at all stages of their careers. At the undergraduate level through seminar series, campus tours, and mentor-mentee relationships, the undergraduate students learn about a variety of graduate and professional programs including but not limited to: Doctor of Philosophy in biochemistry, cell biology, physiology, immunology, pharmacology, and neuroscience, Doctor of Allopathic Medicine, Doctor of Podiatric Medicine, Doctor of Pharmacy, and Doctor of Physical Therapy. Through these interactions, students have identified potential interest in graduate programs and particular career paths. WISDOM’s goal is to foster the interest of students and facilitate their transition to graduate school through application workshops, mock interviews, and academic tutoring. Recently, WISDOM has developed K-12 programming as well as an intramural mentorship program that will encompass graduate students, post-docs, faculty, and staff. The WISDOM pipeline encourages participation and retention for women in STEM and healthcare-related fields at all stages in academia.
