Training and Educational Programs
Training and educational programs are developed in conjunction with the input of the RFU community to meet the needs of the Rosalind Franklin University community. Both training and education curriculums are created to foster and sustain a campus environment where everyone feels heard, valued, validated, and respected, regardless: of race, ethnicity, religion, socioeconomic status, mental or physical ability, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, color, age, national ancestry, sex, pregnancy, military service or veteran status, or genetic information. Examples of diversity training and educational programs include:
Community Conversations are collaboratively designed to set the foundation for open and candid dialogue on issues and events that affect the RFU community, the region, the state, and the nation at large.
The Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) also works with internal and external communities to invite experts who can speak to diversity and inclusion in medicine and science.
Diversity and Inclusion @RFU is a university-wide diversity initiative that addresses our identities, implicit bias, isms, culture competence @RFU, creating inclusive environments, and creating communities of praxis. Diversity and Inclusion @RFU provides trainings that engage in self-introspection while creating the foundation for more in-depth, on-going development.
For the fall of 2019, ODI will sponsor the annual Common Read series. This year ODI will feature “Between the World and Me” by Ta-Nehisi Coates. This is an opportunity for the RFU community to come together and engage in dialogue around what Mr. Coates wrote in his novel. A novel he wrote as a letter to his son.
Finally, we also provide support, education, and training in regards to Title IX. This is extended to students, faculty, and staff.
