Mission statement: The Discipline of Cell Biology and Anatomy is committed to the education and success of our medical and graduate students at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, accomplished through multifaceted and dedicated teaching, supportive mentorship, and innovative and collaborative research.
Our Discipline plays a strong role in the education of CMS medical students. We run their first year Clinical Anatomy course, teach a set of histology labs that are threaded through their basic science curriculum, and provide many lectures in the systems blocks of their first two years of medical school. Several of our faculty also serve as small group facilitators, where the students work through clinical cases in team-based, student-led learning exercises. Our Discipline also offers sophomore and senior year elective courses focused on anatomy.
With several faculty running funded research programs, our Discipline also trains graduate students pursuing PhDs in the School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. Many of our students earn their degrees in interdisciplinary programs such as Neuroscience or Molecular and Cellular Science. Our faculty direct and teach in several courses offered by the School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. Two of these are advanced courses on Current Topics and Current Techniques in Cell Biology.
With these diverse offerings, the faculty of the Discipline of Cell Biology and Anatomy play a central role in preparing students for careers in biomedical research, as well as in medicine and the related health sciences.
