Continuing Medical Education (CME)

The Office of Continuing Medical Education (CME) along with the CME Committee shall promote, develop, evaluate, approve and certify Continuing Medical Education programs, and shall assess the effect of sponsored Continuing Medical Education programs. Continuing Medical Education is considered an integral part of the continuum of medical education in the school and in the life-long process of education of the physician.

The Office of CME may be able to assist you in matters common to all continuing medical education programs, which include but are not limited to:

  • Assisting in the processing of your CME application for your activities
  • Assisting departments with their regularly scheduled conferences, e.g. Grand Rounds or symposiums and conferences
  • Assisting your department with the collection of needs assessment data
  • Assisting in the management of CME funds

Each year, about 20 symposiums are sponsored by the CME office in conjunction with the school departments. In addition, approximately 18 recurring conferences, grand rounds and tumor boards are sponsored by the CME Office on campus and at affiliated hospitals. The education program is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) and provides appropriate credit for the Physician's Recognition Award of the American Medical Association. Credit is applicable for state medical licensure.
