Graduate Medical Education (GME)
The Office of Graduate Medical Education (GME) is charged with the administrative oversight and management of the school's Graduate Medical Education programs (residencies and fellowships). The GME Office assists these programs and their trainees in matters to assure compliance with all requirements of the school, the university and outside agencies. These requirements include but are not limited to those of:
- University and medical school policies and procedures, including grievances
- State of Illinois medical licenses
- J-1 Visas
- Training program contracts
- Affiliation agreements with participating sites
- Salaries and benefits for trainees paid by CMS
- Graduation from GME training programs
- ACGME institutional polices, residency review and fellowship review committee regulations
Chicago Medical School is committed to supporting GME programs of the highest caliber. These programs comprise residency training programs in Internal Medicine and Psychiatry and fellowships in Cardiovascular Disease, Interventional Cardiology, Endocrinology, Infectious Disease, and Pulmonary Disease.
