House and Learning Community Program
The House and Learning Community Program seek to strengthen the medical school experience through dynamic, engaged, and relationship-centered communities for curricular and co-curricular learning and development. The program includes four houses that link sixteen learning communities across the four years of medical school, connecting students in a network of faculty, residents, staff, and fellow students with varying interests and levels of experience.
Each learning community is led by a dedicated faculty mentor, who is also a practicing physician. Each entering class of medical students is assigned to one of the four learning community mentors who stay with that group of students through their entire four years of medical school. Our community mentors are highly valued by their students, and they are essential to our efforts to offer a nurturing and professional learning environment at Chicago Medical School. Learning community mentors support student development through mentoring, advising, and social support. These efforts are aimed at supporting the personal, academic, and professional development of our students.
Learning Communities
There are sixteen Learning Communities at Chicago Medical School, including four per class. The learning communities are structured contexts for advising, mentoring, social support and learning.
