Lisa M Michener, MS, PharmD

Lisa Michener, PharmD, Associate Director of Experiential Education, has been Clinical and Operations Manager and preceptor in the NorthShore University HealthSystem in Lake County for the past nine years. During that time, she served as a primary preceptor to pharmacy students and pharmacy residents in both elective and required rotations, including Medication Safety, Hospital, and Administration. She also coordinated the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, composed formulary drug reviews, conducted medication use evaluations, and developed drug-related guidelines and associated policies and procedures. Dr. Michener received the Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Florida in 1999 and a Master of Science in Pharmacy in 2001 from the University of Wisconsin. She also completed a Pharmacy Practice Residency in Outcomes Research. In her recent management role, she was responsible for daily operations and financial management of the pharmacy, overseeing approximately 20 pharmacy technicians and 20 pharmacists. She has experience in teaching, clinical pharmacy practice and research. She is the recipient of many awards from the NorthShore University HealthSystem, including the 2001 and 2002 Teamwork Award, the 2003 Leadership Award, the 2004 Preceptor of the Year Award, the 2005 Care Award for Customer Service, and the 2008 Awards for Innovation in Cost Saving and for Leadership in Teamwork. Finally, she was selected to attend the American Society of Health-System Pharmacy Leadership Academy in 2008.

Dr. Michener's research uses survey methodology to gather student and faculty perception(s) about didactic and experiential curricular activities and interprofessionalism.
