How do I log in?

You can access Student Self-Service by logging into HelixNet by using your HelixNet user ID and password.

How do I accept or reject my Federal Direct Student Loans?

There will be an option to accept or reject your Federal Direct Student Loans on your Self-Service Checklist, otherwise you can click on the 'My Awards' link and you will be able to accept or reject your loans there.

How do I change the amount of the Federal Direct Student Loans before I accept them?

Similar to how you accept or reject your Federal Direct Student Loans, you will also have the opportunity to adjust your Federal Direct Student Loan amounts in the same spot under the 'My Awards' link in Self-Service.

How do I know what documents I am missing?

You will need to check your Self-Service Checklist to see what you have left to complete. It will say 'Action Needed' if you are missing documents. Once we receive your completed documents the checklist item will be marked 'Completed.'

How do I print my award letter?

On Self-Service, you will click the link that says 'Award Letter.' Here, you will be able to download it as a PDF document and print it.

How do I report that I will be receiving an outside scholarship?

On Self-Service, there will be a link that says 'Report/View Outside Awards', click that link. You will then need to click the link that says 'Add An Award', the enter in the information that is requested.

How do I request an increase for my Federal Direct Student Loans?

You will click the link that says 'Request A New Loan', then you will see how much you are able to request for the academic year, follow the steps to complete the loan adjustment. If you have $0 left to request, make an appointment with a financial aid counselor to see if a budget adjustment is an option for you.

You can check on your Federal Student Aid account under 'My Documents' or you can check your Self-Service Checklist

When can I expect my initial financial aid package?

May start students can expect to begin receiving packages in mid-April.

August start students can expect to begin receiving packages in Mid-May.

Continuing students can expect to begin receiving packages in mid-April.

How do I know if I have completed all my required paperwork to receive a financial aid package?

You will see a fully completed checklist on your Self-Service account.

The FAFSA is asking for my taxes from two years prior. Is this correct?

Yes, you will use tax information from two years prior on the FAFSA.

How can I change the amount of aid I have been awarded?

You will click the link that says 'Request A New Loan', then you will see how much you are able to request for the academic year, follow the steps to complete the loan adjustment. How do I know my financial aid package is ready?

You will be notified via email to your RFU email address. Check this email regularly and be sure to respond promptly if a response is warranted.

What is the cost of attendance?

Each program has a difference cost of attendance. To view your cost of attendance, visit the Financial Aid Student Budgets web page.

How do I apply for scholarships?

Apply year round for scholarships, just because the school year started doesn't mean that scholarships are no longer awarded. Start by using our External Scholarship Database to begin your scholarship search.

My student loans are not in deferment. What should I do?

Contact the Office of the Registrar to see if your information has been reported to the National Student Loan Clearinghouse (NSLC) once you have begun classes at RFU. The Registrar reports enrollment to the NSLC on the 15th of every month. You can also call your student loan servicer to see what they can do to speed up the process.
