Perform gross examinations, dissection and description of tissues received in Surgical Pathology ♦ Assure appropriate specimen accessioning and determine appropriate fixative ♦ Dictate gross findings on selected specimens using appropriate terminology; select and dissect appropriate tissue areas for submission ♦ Confer with the pathologist to identify the special techniques and procedures that might be necessary (e.g. flow cytometry, immunofluorescence, smears, cultures, etc) ♦ Triage specimens and prioritize/manage workload to meet expected turn-around-time (TAT) and specific specimen requirements ♦ Photograph specimen samples as appropriate for archival purposes ♦ Assist in caseload distribution to Pathologists, if required.

2. Demonstrate knowledge of quality, safety and compliance programs ♦ Maintain pathology protocols, records, policies and procedures, as requested ♦ Handle chemicals, hazardous wastes and sharps accurately and safely ♦ Assure proper maintenance and cleanliness of equipment and surrounding environment ♦ Collect Quality Assurance data and summarize for reporting as requested ♦ Participate in Process Improvement initiatives ♦ Uphold professional standards of conduct regarding protection of patient confidentiality.

We are hiring an enthusiastic and motivated Lead Research Scientist to drive key activities in the development of new diagnostic technology. This is a 3- to 6-month contractor role with flexible hours requiring on average 30 hours per week with the opportunity for follow-on projects.
