Application Requirements

Prerequisite Coursework

Successful completion of the following courses is required for matriculation into the PharmD program. You may apply and gain admission with coursework in progress.

*Please note: A physiology course will not fulfill the anatomy or anatomy/physiology with lab requirement. The course must have an anatomy component.

Academics

  • Due to the interprofessional nature of the curriculum the College of Pharmacy does not accept transfer students.
  • The College of Pharmacy welcomes candidates for admission from any academic discipline or undergraduate major who have completed 65 semester hours (95 quarter hours) of undergraduate study at an accredited college or university.
  • Competitive applicants will have an overall GPA of 2.50 or better.
  • Competitive applicants will have a science GPA of 2.50 or better.
  • A grade of “C” or better in all prerequisite coursework is required.

PCAT

  • The PCAT is required for applicants with a total GPA of less than or equal to 2.5. Candidates with a GPA greater than 2.5 can make their application more competitive by providing PCAT results. If applicants have taken or will take the test, please submit scores to PharmCAS using the instructions listed below.
  • Please use the PharmCAS code 104 when requesting scores to be reported to Rosalind Franklin University.

LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION

  • Either two individual letters of recommendation or one committee letter is required.
  • The College of Pharmacy prefers to receive two letters of recommendation from individual members of the faculty (preferably science), employers, supervisors, or pharmacy professionals.
  • Letters from additional health professionals, personal references, or other recommendations may be submitted in addition to the academic evaluations at the applicant’s option.
  • All letters must be sent directly to PharmCAS service. Strongly encourage your evaluators to send electronic letters of recommendation (eLOR) to PharmCAS. Read the PharmCAS reference section for instructions on how to submit letters of recommendation. If the evaluator plans to send a paper recommendation, the applicant must print the PharmCAS reference request form.

PHARMACY EXPERIENCE

Applicants are encouraged to seek out experiences (paid or unpaid) that will help them confirm pharmacy as their career choice. Applicants are also encouraged to display leadership characteristics through academic or community service activities.

SERVICE

Applicants may distinguish themselves through demonstration of commitment to public service through a variety of humanitarian activities.

EXPERIENCE

Applicants should exhibit motivation and commitment to healthcare as demonstrated by previous employment, volunteer work, or other experiences.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Successful applicants demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills.
